Red-tailed Hawk
Ruby was found injured on the side of a road near Monument, Colorado in the summer of 2012. It was discovered during her admission exam that she had severely fractured the humerus bone of the right wing. Despite our veterinarian’s best attempt at repair, the bone shortened during healing. This shortening of the wing prevents Ruby from properly extending her wing for flight. Although she’s lost her flight, Ruby still has a very active life as an education bird for the Nature & Wildlife Discovery Center. Ruby joined our Raptor Ambassador staff in the spring of 2014.
