Ruby

Red-tailed Hawk

Ruby was found on the side of the road near Monument, Colorado. During her initial exam, it was found that Ruby’s humerus had fractured. Humerus bones are critical for flight. Despite the veterinarian’s best efforts, Ruby’s humerus shortened during the healing process, leaving Ruby unable to fly.

Ruby joined our team in 2014 and has lead an active life as an educator ever since. Her beautiful red-tinged plumage inspired her name. Paired with her broad chest and signature brick red tail, Ruby is a wonderful example of a Red-tailed Hawk and a valued member of our team.
