Originally built in the 1930s by Work Progress Administration crews, the Horseshoe Lodge and Retreat Center is on the National Register of Historic Places. In recent years, it has been lovingly and tastefully renovated into a four-season eco-lodge, surrounded by hundred-year-old ponderosa pines and 8 miles of trails. The Horseshoe Lodge is the perfect place for groups, families, couples, and individuals to retreat into the beauty and simplicity of nature.
We can accommodate individual overnight stays, large groups, retreats, youth groups, family reunions, and more! The West Wing features 11 individual rooms, each decorated and painted by local artists with its own nature motif. The East Wing offers barrack-style dormitory spaces, perfect for housing larger groups.

We are happy to offer delicious meal service, catered by NWDC, for groups larger than 10. Depending on the type of event, these meals are either served in the Main Classroom or the Dining Hall inside of the Lodge.
Breakfast: $15/person. Lunch: $17/person. Dinner: $20/person.
Our Bear Breakout Guest Lounge is located in the lower level of the Horseshoe Lodge, where you will have access to a minifridge and microwave. You may also bring your own coolers to store food and drinks. We ask that you do not store any food or drinks in the upper level of the Lodge, to prevent drawing any critters up there. We have a water fountain, but no ice. We do provide all West Wing guests with a continental breakfast in the Bear Breakout room. You may also have your own outdoor barbecue at any of our grills located throughout the Mountain Park (please bring your own coal), and use the Fire Circle in front of the Lodge to cook food and socialize (firewood is provided). Beulah Valley has a general store open during the day, as well. It is located at 8869 Grand Ave, Beulah, CO, 81023.
Specialized amenities like composting toilets and a bio-mass furnace make our Lodge one of the most efficient buildings of its type in the region. In keeping with the spirit of an eco-lodge, our showers are token-operated. Each token is good for 5 minutes of water. Please put them in one at a time, every 5 minutes, and congratulate yourself for actively participating in water conservation!
Dormitory guests will be given 1 token per person for each night of their stay. So, if your group of 10 stays in a dormitory for 2 nights, you will all be given 20 tokens total. West Wing guests will be given 2 tokens per person for the first night of their stay, and then 1 token per person for each additional night. So, if your family of four stays in the Maggie’s Mountain Meadows room (occupancy: 4) for 2 nights, you will all be given 12 tokens total.
We understand that due to personal ability level and preference, you may need more tokens than the standard allotment. Please tell us ahead of time, and we will be happy to accommodate you. Any additional tokens over the standard allotment cost $3/each.
*Sorry, but due to other guests’ allergies, we do not allow pets in the overnight rooms of the West Wing or East Wing.
Everything was PERFECT! Lori and Sandy were the personification of the perfect hostesses and chefs, giving their heart to our group and making everyone feel special. Once again, thank you and everyone else involved with our retreat.
The entire team was very sincere and helpful. Jenn was fantastic to work with! Thank you for a wonderful venue.
Last weekend, I discovered Pueblo Mountain Park and Horseshoe Lodge. I arrived nearly two hours early for the weekend retreat. Tony greeted me upon my arrival, showed me around, helped me find a bathroom, and told me all about the magical place I was visiting. He then escorted me to Lori, who couldn't have been warmer or more welcoming. She offered me a treat, took me to my room early, suggested a little walk, just couldn't have been lovelier. Later, I met Sandy and her brand of warmth and humor, and enjoyed her as well. Those two sisters really helped to make the whole experience what it was. They're fabulous!!! Jenn in the Horseshoe Lodge was also super friendly and nice. I've now told a bunch of people about this fabulous park and lodge in Beulah. I hope that's okay. The secret is going to get out!
Lori and Sandy, you two made this retreat so special. Delicious food, warm smiles, and the best hugs. Love you to pieces.
Everything was handled professionally and clearly specified. All questions were answered promptly! All members of the staff were friendly and very helpful!
What an AMAZING time we had having the wedding at the NWDC Mountain Campus, it was absolutely PERFECT even with the unexpected snow! The staff was wonderful and I can't express my gratitude for all of you enough!
The Pavilion looked so nice with the lights and furniture all set up, and the fire going when we walked in. The whole atmosphere was absolutely wonderful, and we got several compliments from our guests.
Our retreat was perfect. Lori and Sandy made it so special. Delicious food, warm smiles, fabulous hospitality. It was glorious being here.
This was a beautiful location! Perfect for my son’s graduation party. We loved that there was both indoor and outdoor seating for our guests. Sandy was very friendly and helpful with our questions.
