Girl Scouts will earn their BUG Badge with us by attending our program all about BUGS with an emphasis on aquatic macroinvertebrates (aka water bugs) in their habitat! They will discover the tiny creatures that live in the Arkansas River! At the badge workshop NWDC plans to provide the girl scouts with: Skills to identify terrestrial vs. aquatic insects, a better understanding of aquatic insects in their habitat, and courage and confidence in the outdoors. Girl Scouts will receive the pictured bug badge once they have completed all of the steps in our program.
Join our amazing and very talented NWDC Volunteer Laura, certified yoga instructor. Immerse yourself in the outdoors with a great view of the Arkansas river while you decompress with yoga on the river! Dress to be outside. The program lasts an hour, and we will be outside for the whole program. Capacity of 25 participants.
*All Yoga On the River participants are required to sign a liability waiver
This is a Self-Guided hike encouraging you to connect with nature. Throughout the River Campus trails keep your eyes open for red ribbons. These have cards attached with thought-provoking questions, inspiring quotes and mindful prompts to enhance your walk. The cards will be changed on the second Sunday of each month. Enjoy!

Join the Arkansas Valley Audubon Society at the River Campus each month on the 4th Saturday for an enjoyable outing to view and identify a variety of birds. Don’t forget your binoculars!

New this year (2024), and perfect for the whole family! This program is 2 hours long, usually the second Saturday of the month. Every month, our signature Family Discovery Day Program will feature a different topic and rotate between our River Campus & Mountain Campus. The program could include (but is not limited to) a guided hike, a nature education topic, a citizen science lesson, and other hands-on learning opportunities! Please register ahead of time so we know you are coming.
This program is 1 hour long, usually the first Friday of the month. Knee High Nature Hour is geared towards toddler and preschool aged children. Join us for gentle hikes, songs, stories and much more! Each month we have a new topic of study related to the great outdoors.
