This spider is the goldenrod crab spider, or more generally, the flower (crab) spider. It is most commonly found hunting in flowers.
The AVAS bird walk on June 22, 2024 attracted 14 participants on a warm, humid day with thousands of mosquitoes and 17 bird species.
Throughout the year, our young adventurers developed a wide array of outdoor skills and knowledge like conducting nature-related experiments.
On the lovely morning of June 8, 2024, participants chose to do a Big Sit and let the birds come to us. A total of 16 species obliged.
Artists for Nature invites Colorado artists to participate in a juried exhibit supporting nature education at the Nature Wildlife Discovery Center. All styles of nature-inspired 2D and 3D artwork will be considered.
After we fed and monitored the little owlets for a few days, we moved them out to their new and temporary home.
On the lovely, warm, birdy morning of May 25, 2024, twenty participants observed a total of 20 different bird species.
We participated in a silent hike, an egg dissection, and an egg experiment (pictured above), which was my favorite activity of the day.
