“Passion is lifted from the earth itself by the muddy hands of the young; it travels along grass-stained sleeves to the heart.” -Richard Louv

MPEC’s very first Nature Toddlers program (originally called Nature for Toddlers [and their Folks]) took place in April 2007. The program, started by MPEC Founder “Ranger Dave” Van Manen, has always had one primary objective – to provide an opportunity for our community’s youngest members to experience the wonders of the natural word.

Young children are natural learners, so Nature Toddlers simply brings toddlers into the magical classroom of the park to learn – some basic things about birds and mammals and trees and flowers, and that Nature is a great place to be. Nature Toddlers continues to this day and usually includes a combination of simple songs, exploration, a gentle discovery hike, some basic yoga for kids, lots of fun and laughter, and is still facilitated by Ranger Dave.

MPEC usually offers a Nature Toddlers program once monthly. Click here to find out when the next one is!

If you are a Pueblo Early Education Facility and have an interest in bringing your group of kiddos up to the park, email mpec@hikeandlearn.org.
